Tuscany Luxury Shopping Guide

Via de' Tornabuoni, The Mall and the artisan workshops.

Tuscany's shopping splits three ways: the luxury flagships of Florence's Via de' Tornabuoni, the legendary outlet villages south of the city, and the artisan workshops in smaller towns where craft is still cottage-industry.

Florence — the luxury circuit

Via de' Tornabuoni is the historic luxury street: Gucci's flagship (the Gucci Garden museum next door), Ferragamo (with the basement shoe museum), Cavalli, Pucci, Bvlgari. The smaller streets toward Santa Trinita have the city's best artisan jewellers and bespoke tailors.

The Mall and Barberino designer outlets

The Mall (45 minutes south of Florence) — Prada, Gucci, Saint Laurent, Tom Ford, Bottega Veneta in a single luxury complex. Barberino (45 minutes north) for more accessible brands. Both run free shuttle buses from Florence or arrange private driver transport.

Artisan workshops worth a detour

Florence: Scuola del Cuoio (leather, behind Santa Croce); Loretta Caponi (hand-embroidered linens); Pampaloni (silver). Volterra: alabaster workshops (Rossi, Bessi). San Gimignano: Vernaccia and saffron. Pienza: pecorino direct from the cheese-makers.
