Tuscany is one of the world's most popular destination wedding locations — and for good reason. Where else can you exchange vows in a medieval castle surrounded by vineyards, dine under the stars on farm-fresh cuisine, and dance until dawn in an olive grove? The beauty is extraordinary, the food and wine are world-class, and the Italian talent for celebration ensures every wedding feels like a genuine festa.
Why Tuscany for Your Wedding?
- Unmatched venues: Castles, villas, monasteries, vineyards, olive groves — the variety is extraordinary.
- Perfect weather: May through October offers reliable sunshine with comfortable temperatures.
- Exceptional food & wine: Your wedding dinner will be sourced from some of the finest ingredients in the world.
- Built-in honeymoon: Stay on after the wedding for a romantic Tuscan retreat.
- Guest experience: Your guests get an Italian vacation along with your celebration.
Legal Requirements for Getting Married in Italy
Getting legally married in Italy is possible for foreigners but involves specific bureaucratic steps:
- Nulla Osta: A "no impediment" certificate from the US Embassy in Rome or consulate (for American couples). This requires an appointment and takes 2–3 days.
- Translation & legalization: Your Nulla Osta must be translated into Italian and legalized by the local Prefettura.
- Civil ceremony: Can be performed at the town hall or, with special permission, at your venue.
- Religious ceremony: Catholic ceremonies in Italian churches are possible but require additional preparation (Pre-Cana course, baptismal certificates).
Our tip: Many couples choose to have a legal ceremony at home and a symbolic ceremony in Tuscany. This eliminates the paperwork entirely and lets you focus on the celebration.
Best Wedding Seasons
Peak season (June–September): The most popular months, with warm evenings perfect for outdoor celebrations. Book 12–18 months in advance.
Shoulder season (May & October): Slightly cooler but equally beautiful, with better availability and lower costs. October adds the romance of harvest season.
Off-season (November–April): Dramatic but risky weather-wise. Best suited for intimate celebrations with indoor backup plans.
Budget Planning
